The desiccator has a saturation indicator window. The desiccator adsorbs moisture from the equipment, the saturation indicator will change colour. For this specific desiccator, the saturation indicator colour will change from blue to pink at approximately 50% RH for a temperature of 25°C. The life cycle of the desiccator is not fixed and depends on the rate at which it adsorbs moisture. This is influenced by the ambient humidity and the efficiency of the terminal box gaskets and seals at preventing the ingress of moisture into the assembly. Once a desiccator has adsorbed a set amount of moisture it will need to be replaced or refilled through reactivation.
